Established in the 1950s with German collaboration, the Rourkela Steel Plant holds a significant place in India's industrial history. It was the first integrated steel plant in the public sector to use the LD (Linz-Donawitz) process for steelmaking, a technology that revolutionized steel production. The plant played a crucial role in the nation's post-independence development, providing essential steel for infrastructure projects and various industries. Over the years, RSP has undergone several modernization and expansion programs to enhance its production capacity and efficiency. It continues to be a major player in the Indian steel industry, contributing significantly to the region's economy and employment.
