    History

The history of Bhimkund is deeply intertwined with Hindu mythology, specifically the epic Mahabharata. According to local legends, during their exile, the Pandavas passed through this region. Draupadi, the wife of the Pandavas, felt thirsty, and there was no water source nearby. Bhima, known for his immense strength, struck his mace (gada) on the ground, creating a large depression that instantly filled with water. This is how Bhimkund came into existence. The kund has been a sacred site for centuries, revered by the local tribal communities. Over time, many stories and beliefs have become associated with the kund, adding to its cultural significance. The belief that the water level rises before a calamity has been passed down through generations, making it a subject of both wonder and respect.
