    History

Ramkund's history is deeply intertwined with the epic Ramayana. Legend says that Lord Rama, along with Sita and Lakshmana, spent a significant portion of their exile in the Dandaka forest, which includes the Nashik region. It is believed that Rama bathed at this very spot, thus sanctifying the kund. The ashes of King Dasharatha, Rama's father, were also immersed here, adding to its significance. Over the centuries, Ramkund has been renovated and maintained by various rulers and devotees. The present structure is relatively modern, but the underlying belief and reverence for the site remain unchanged. The site continues to be an important location for religious rituals and ceremonies, attracting devotees from all over India.
