    History

Rewa Kund was constructed during the reign of Baz Bahadur, the last independent ruler of Mandu, primarily to provide a reliable water source for Rani Roopmati's pavilion. Roopmati, a talented singer and Baz Bahadur's consort, insisted on living at a height from where she could view the Narmada River (also known as Rewa). Since it was impossible to bring the river to Mandu's plateau, Baz Bahadur built this kund and connected it to the river through an ingenious system of aqueducts. This ensured a constant supply of water, fulfilling Roopmati's wish. The kund is a testament to their love and the architectural prowess of the time, making it a significant historical landmark.
