Rajwada Palace was built by the Holkar dynasty, who ruled Indore during the 18th and 19th centuries. Construction began in 1747 by Malhar Rao Holkar, the founder of the Holkar dynasty. The palace served as the residence of the Holkar rulers and a center for administrative and cultural activities. Over the years, Rajwada Palace witnessed numerous historical events and underwent several renovations. Unfortunately, the palace suffered significant damage due to fires, particularly in 1984, which led to the collapse of some sections. Efforts have been made to restore and preserve the remaining structure, allowing visitors to appreciate its historical significance and architectural beauty. The palace stands as a symbol of the Holkar dynasty's legacy and their contribution to the region's history and culture.
