Hoshang Shah Fort is named after Hoshang Shah, the second Sultan of the Malwa Sultanate, who ruled in the early 15th century. The fort served as a crucial defensive structure and a symbol of the Sultanate's power. Hoshangabad itself was founded by him, and the fort played a significant role in the city's development. Over the centuries, the fort witnessed various battles and changes in power. While much of the original structure is now in ruins due to neglect and natural elements, the remaining portions still reflect the architectural style prevalent during the Malwa Sultanate. The fort stands as a testament to the region's turbulent and fascinating history.
