The Coffee Museum in Chikmagalur is a relatively recent addition to the region's attractions. While the exact date of establishment isn't readily available, it was created to preserve and celebrate the rich coffee heritage of Chikmagalur. The region's history with coffee dates back to the 17th century when Baba Budan, a Sufi saint, is said to have brought seven coffee beans from Yemen and planted them on the slopes of the Chandradrona Hill. This marked the beginning of coffee cultivation in India. The museum aims to showcase this history and the subsequent development of the coffee industry in the area, highlighting its importance to the local culture and economy.
