Ayyanakere Lake was constructed during the rule of Rukmangada Raya, a king of Sakkarepatna, in the 12th century. Originally named 'Aryanakere' meaning 'lake of the Aryans,' its purpose was primarily irrigation. Over time, the name evolved to Ayyanakere. The lake has played a vital role in the agricultural prosperity of the region for centuries and continues to be a significant water source. Its historical significance and natural beauty have made it a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.

One of the most peaceful places. Amazing sunset experience. Mild and soothing lake. Mountains in the background and the lake in the front gives the best view for a sunset. Very relaxing.
On the onset there is nothing much to write about. Located in the outskirts of Chikamagakur, the lake which once used to a big water body has shrunken to half it's size now. It is surrounded by the mountain on one side and lush greenery on the other. The scenery is good and a great place to rest at if one is driving/ riding past. There are no shops or hotels or even gas stationa nearby.
