The Baridi dynasty emerged in Bidar following the decline of the Bahmani Sultanate in the late 15th century. Qasim Barid I, a Turkic military officer, established the dynasty and ruled as prime minister before effectively seizing power. The Baridi sultans controlled Bidar and its surrounding territories for over a century, leaving their mark on the region through their architectural contributions. The Baridi Tombs, built during their reign, reflect a blend of Persian, Turkish, and Deccan styles. The dynasty was eventually conquered by the Adil Shahi dynasty of Bijapur in 1619, bringing an end to their rule. Despite their relatively short reign, the Baridis left behind a significant architectural legacy in Bidar.
