    History

The Bhairavnath Temple's history is intertwined with the Vaishno Devi shrine. Legend says that after Goddess Vaishnavi vanquished the demon Bhairav, his severed head landed on this hilltop. Bhairav, repentant for his actions, was granted forgiveness by the Goddess and a temple was built to commemorate him. It is believed that a pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi is incomplete without visiting the Bhairavnath Temple to seek his blessings. Over centuries, the temple has undergone renovations and expansions, while retaining its spiritual significance.
