History
The Gulmarg Gondola project was developed in phases. Phase 1, connecting Gulmarg to Kongdori, was completed in 1998. Phase 2, extending the cable car to Apharwat Peak, was finished in 2005. The gondola was built with French collaboration and has significantly boosted tourism in Gulmarg. Initially, it offered limited capacity, but upgrades have increased the number of passengers it can transport. The gondola has become an iconic symbol of Gulmarg, attracting visitors from around the globe to experience its thrilling ride and stunning Himalayan scenery.

Visited in the second week of October'2023.its been a breathtaking experience. Could ride upto phase 1 only as phase 2 was closed. Still view was stunning. It's been unforgettable experience. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to soak in the beauty of the Himalayas while enjoying a variety of fun snow activities. Also the landscape is the part of heaven. The kids enjoyed it a lot. I wish, I could stay there for long.
This is a must visit in Gulmarg. I stayed for 2 days during winter and went for it both days. The first day we just covered phase 1 and the second day we covered Phase 2 first and then came back to phase 1 later. I visited with my family and my 5 year old nephew and it was really good. Initially I was a little afraid because of my nephew on the second phase, as it may be very cold and less oxygen and other factors. But he enjoyed a lot in the snow and nothing as such happened, just go prepared with enough clothes and gears. The second phase is more to enjoy and play in snow and scenic views, but it's totally worth it. You will find most of the snow activities and food in phase 1 only. PS: Gondola wait times are too much, the first day it took us almost 2 hours just in queue during the afternoon. The next day we went very early at 9 AM and it took just 10 mins. *And book your gondola tickets in advance online.
