Built during the reign of Ahom King Rudra Singha in the early 18th century, the Namdang Stone Bridge was a crucial part of the communication and trade network of the Ahom kingdom. The bridge is constructed from a single massive piece of rock, quarried from a nearby hill and skillfully shaped and placed across the Namdang river. It is said that the bridge was built to facilitate the movement of the Ahom army and to establish trade routes. The bridge is a marvel of engineering from a time when machines were not available. It stands as a proud reminder of the Ahom Kingdom's power and the craftsmanship of its people. It is one of the oldest and most significant stone bridges in Assam.
