The Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1978 to protect the unique biodiversity of the region, particularly its rich birdlife. It was named after Daying Ering, a prominent political figure from Arunachal Pradesh. Initially, the area was recognized for its ecological significance due to its location on the floodplains of the Siang River, which creates a diverse habitat. Over the years, the sanctuary has been instrumental in conserving various species of flora and fauna, and it continues to be an important site for wildlife research and conservation efforts. The sanctuary's history is closely tied to the local communities and their traditional practices of coexisting with nature.
I had a lovely experience in Daying Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located 13 km away from Pasighat. Home to different species of plants, wild animals, trees and birds. A group size of 4-5 will be perfect to visit. The best time to visit the sanctuary is FEB to APRIL & OCT to DEC. Prior permission is required to be taken from Divisional Forest Officer, Daying Bring Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary Division, Pasighat. In order to reach the destination, it is required to cross Siang River by boat and walk around 2 km on foot. To enjoy the real thrill I would suggest you to spend the night in woods and under open sky in tree house and camping sites inside the sanctuary. It has high speed internet coverage nothing to worry. Guest house for visitors available. I would suggest you to carry light/lamp, power-bank, food, water and boots/shoes. Carry warm clothes during winter.
The river is flooded, so exploring this sanctuary during March, April seems a bad idea There are birds but due to hunting and other issues, they shun the camera. It's a dense patch, that might be good during winters
