Horsley Hills was named after W.D. Horsley, a British collector who served in the area during the colonial era. He built his residence here and was captivated by the region's beauty and cool climate. The hills were developed as a summer retreat during the British Raj, and remnants of that era can still be seen in some of the architecture. Before its development by the British, the area was known to locals as Yenugulla Mallamma Konda, named after a local legend. It has since grown into a popular tourist destination, while still retaining its natural charm and tranquility.
